PivotalChange.ca provides private one-on-one professional dog trainers and accompanied online courses, which goes beyond positive reinforcement to include fear and force-free skills. Imagine your dog as one who, through learned cooperation, participates and supports their family. Our program delivers a bonded canine companion.
What Are The Benefits Of Positive Reinforcement Training
Positive Reinforcement as a training method, at its simplest, is to reward the dog for behaviour you want and ignore the behaviour you don't. Canine training with positive reinforcement is scientifically proven to be more effective than any other method of training, and should not be mistaken for the term, 'balanced approach'. A 'balance approach' purports to provide discipline as a way to 'help' the dog learn its place and to become obedient. Professional trainers who are using outdated methods, provide the dog with an understanding of 'what not to do' (negative) rather than 'what to do' (positive, holistic). Trainers in a 'balanced approach' regularly suggests ways to train a dog which goes against gentler and kinder alternative and more effective methods. And, generally, a balanced trainer does not accept a dog can be an individual and contributing member of the family without any harm or discipline ever being inflicted upon him. Quite simply, there is a better and more effective way to change behaviours and train a dog to cope in our world. This is where we use positive reinforcement training to create a bond between us and our dogs.
Dog behaviour is born from the way a dog thinks and feels. Bad behaviour occurs for many reasons or a combination thereof; genetic predisposition, mental illness and environmental conditioning. The important part of our training process focuses on the root causes. Then provide you with the most updated knowledge on what we know about dogs today. Things like, how your dog's mind works, how it makes decisions, the limitations of the dog's capabilities in social situations and so on.
How Long Does It Take to Train a Dog?
Our training process is a complete 10 and 12-week program, where you develop your skill level to learn your dog's signals, what they mean and how to respond back effectively. We begin with a psychometric psychological assessment, develop a tailored plan, train your dog and you how to adopt new ways to think, feel and behave. You learn to guide your dog as you become a fluent master in dog language, head to tail, supporting your dog as social skills to become peaceful, loving and cooperative.
