Title: Professional Dog Behaviourist/Behaviour Change Consultant

Responsibilities
  • Working side-by-side with our core team members, the Behaviour Change Consultant is accountable for delivering our in-person program strategy weekly at the clients' homes.
  • Dedicated Behaviour Change Consultants strive to meet our measurable performance and success metrics during and at the end of each program period. 
  • The Behaviour Change Consultant can expect to attend weekly virtual case-review meetings with team advisors who represent the contributing systems in the body-mind connection. 
  • Following client sessions, the Behaviour Change Consultant will send key messages, objectives, materials and content that meets the client's needs (video, recaps, emails).
  • Other duties may include adding content to the program or specialising in aspects of dogs external or internal contributors to behaviour.
  • The Behaviour Change Consultant will update progress and success metrics. In addition, they will maintain program progress updates, content and files in key program communication repositories/sites.
  • ​You will assist office administration in scheduling and executing key program sessions for the client roster.
  • Given the pandemic, the Behaviour Change Consultant should be comfortable working in client homes with a face mask.  
Qualifications:
  • Must have credentials from IAABC, CCPDT or other recognised institutions
  • Five plus years of experience working with dogs and their caregivers
  • Own a good sense of what a dog needs and how to provide it to them.
  • Superior dog leash and handling skills.
  • Tolerance and compassion for the caregiver and their dog when dealing with extremes are a must.
  • Knowledge of dog nutrition and weight maintenance is an asset.
  • Professional, compassionate, and understanding when working with both people (vets, dog walkers, dog groomers, volunteers, pet parents and the public) and dogs.
  • Flexibility with work hours is ideal for accommodating clients' availability requirements.
  • Current Ontario driver's license or means to travel across the GTA
  • Other college or university degrees in an animal care related field or human psychology are assets.
  • Experience working with dogs in roles such as dog sitter, vet assistant, dog walker, boarding kennel attendant, dog groomer, animal control officer, dog trainer, dog trainer specialised in behaviour
  • Exceptionally empathic and highly capable of reading people
  • Expert-level written and oral communication skills
You
  • You are a professional dog trainer who may specialise in behaviour or desire to do so.
  • You may be self-employed in this field of training or behaviour and wish to expand your horizons in two ways; working with a team of specialists and tackling more complex cases.
  • You are looking to build beyond the traditional and often repetitive one-size-fits-all approach to behaviour cases and learn to apply an innovative, proven and structured program focusing on the human-dog dyad and the brain-body connection. 
  • You are interested in an approach that includes developing humans emotional stamina and capabilities to care for problematic behaviours as they are worked on. 
  • You understand or are interested in pursuing the significant complexity between and within the humans and dogs' individual and family constructs, including interdependencies of relationship and the environmental pressures within each home and the brain-body development connection for each being. 
  • You've wondered about and are excited with an adaptive solution that able to overcome any behaviourial complexity allowing for a compelling new way to view, analyse, teach and resolve an individual case and by case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Working side-by-side with the PivotalChange.ca team, the Behaviour Change Associates run several supervised end-to-end program cases, running 10 to 12 weeks in length, and attends weekly virtual case-review team meetings. 
  • Following key messages and objectives, send materials and communications that meet the needs of various client cases (video, recaps, emails).
  • Coordinate work with the team to set templates and standards for the program.
  • Send and coordinate distribution of all major program materials, ensuring accurate distribution lists.
  • Update engagement and buy-in metrics to ensure consistent engagement.  
  • Maintain program progress in program management site.
  • Maintain content and files in key program communication repositories/sites.
  • ​Assist office administration in scheduling and execution of key program sessions for client roster.
  • Maintain the session schedule and client enrolment processes, including administering and monitoring online courses.
 
Primary Requirements:
  • Experienced in Change Management at the Leadership Level (organizational or one-on-one) and looking for a career change to work with families with troubled dogs (preferred). Specifically, we would look for a special person with a post-secondary educational background related to communication, adult learning and development, and change management and 5+ years exposure to programs involving playing a key change management role supporting buy-in, engagement, communications, training and sustaining results.
OR,
  • Experienced working with dogs professionally, and you have one or more certifications (CPDT-KSA, IAABC Dog Behaviour Consultant, KPA CPT, ISCP Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma) or demonstrable equivalent experience (12+ years).

Secondary Requirements:

  • Flexibility in schedule is a must.
  • Expert-level written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing session logistics such as invitations, scheduling, evaluation of engagement.
  • Exceptionally empathic and highly capable of reading people.
  • Behaviour Change Associates during the first 6-months are required to travel to our facilities, “Muskoka Dog Education Centre” for hands-on training, up to twice a week for two-hour training sessions per trip.
  • Must have your own car as travel is required to clients homes in the Muskoka area.

 Seeking a Groundskeeper for 2021 Season - CLOSED

The Muskoka Dog Education Centre is a beautifully landscaped property with over nine gardens of various sizes. We are looking for someone who likes to be their own boss. You will provide weeding, lawn-care, planting, pruning and general care. This role is from April, after the majority of snow is gone, to October.  You are able to work with minimal direction. Ninety-five percent of activities required in this role is carried out on your own. Hours are flexible, any number of hours per day, maximum 10 hours per week. Please note, there is no interactions with dogs in this position. 

Who Are You: 
- you are self-motivated with excellent work ethics.

- you love it when it rains, in fact, wind, rain, sunshine, insects and all of nature is your comfort zone.

- you have your own transportation (we are 4 mins. west from Sandhill Nursery).

- you are strong enough to heft wheelbarrows of mulch or weeds.

- preference will be given to those who are experienced gardeners, landscapers or groundskeepers.

​- you carry your own insurance.

Pivotalchange.ca is looking for an amazing Muskoka-based Administrator to work closely with our professional dog team, playing a key role in organization and optimization of our operations, and development of our growth, locally and nationally. This is a part-time permanent position.

Who are you:
-You are describe by others as both a people person and dog person (but then who doesn’t love dogs? Am I right?).

- You’re a master or near master, or at least a very quick-learner, when it comes to learning apps and zaps. Canva, Weebly, Zoom, Zapier, Google Docs-Sheets-Slides, Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram and Twitter are in use today.

-Your home office is fully-equipped with technology devices to function in any situation; cell phone, computer, printer, etc. You live, luckily, in a home with full-time access to high-speed internet (our emails to Elon/Starlink are still pending in our outbox ... ah, rural life when it snows). You're the go-to person for technology trouble-shooting.

- To you, problems are simply opportunities. You look for how to make our team work smarter, not harder, without compromising our quality and success track-record.

- Simplifying complexity is just what you do when it comes to scheduling appointments, supporting client programs, on-boarding new clients, providing technology support and sending emails throughout our program lifecycle.

- Creative communications is part of your overall passion. You are there to assist in brainstorming and executing on engagement campaigns for our clients and potential clients through various social media platforms and other streams.
